Project Overview

Build the wooded bins on an even surface. Clean all debris and eliminate all imperfections. Make sure that the boards used in the project are all straight. After doing one step, check the square. Make some pre-drill holes before screwing. To make all joints much stronger, glue the joints using finish nails. Clean excessive glue from the wood to avoid any stains.

Dimensions:

2 – 1×12 @ 10 13/16” one end is cut 15 degrees

2 – 1×12 @ 11 ¼” one end is cut 15 degrees

2 – 1×12 @ 45” (bottom and top)

1 – 1×4 @ 43 ½”

1 – ¼” plywood @ 45” x 12 ¾”

Step 1.

First, cut the dividers and the sides in 15 degrees from the square. FYI, the sides should be longer than the dividers. After that, cut the opposite square in 40 degrees. Mark the sides and the dividers. Note: when you cut your wood 15 degrees, it means that the leftover board has already in 15 degrees. You can place the leftover board onto its opposite square and use it to help you cutting 40 degrees.

Step 2.

Add the top and the bottom board onto the dividers. Secure the joints using 2” tape screws. You can make some pre-drill holes before inserting the screws. After the pieces are in place, you can fasten the joints using glue.

Step 3.

Add 1×4 board into the front part of the bin using glue and screws. As the building of the wooded bin is using the glue and screws, it can offer safety whenever your children climb onto the bin. It is able to hold your children weight.

Step 4.

Add the back sides into all parts of the bin using glue and ¾” nails. The parts of the bin are the sides, the dividers, the bottom and the top.

Step 5.

If you plan to have some stacks, you need to add every bin into wooded upper bin. Make sure to attach all pieces into the wall. You can ask someone help for attaching the bins into the wall and secure them in place.

Step 6.

To give some finishing touch, you can sand your bin to make it smooth. You can also paint some coat with polyurethane.
