How to Build a Super Easy and Sturdy DIY Workbench

What is the craftsmen’s best friend? It is no other than a workbench. Almost the whole process of wood making will be spent on this handy item. For this reason, having a sturdy workbench is the dream of any craftsmen. Unfortunately, the manufactured products rarely have the quality they seek for. Then, what about making one?

Cutting the Wood

The first step to begin the project is by preparing the woods. After purchasing the plywood, not it is time to measure the size for each part. For the supports, take the half inches thick plywood and two inches for the frame and legs. Cut a 48×32 inches and 48 from the half inches plywood. For the rest, make four cut with 4×48, 4×26 and 6×25.5 inches respectively.

Drilling the Woods

If the cutting process is too complicated, the carpenters could have done it in the store. Now that the woods have been cut, the next process is drilling the pocket holes. Take the 4×26 boards and drill two holes at each end.

Assembling Top Shelf

The next procedure is sticking the top shelf together. It will be the base for the other steps. Take the 4×26 boards and the 4×48 boards. Connect them via pocket holes. While doing this assignment, a 90 degree ruler would be beneficial. Also, find a flat surface to do this. The final result should be a perfect square.

Making the Table Top

Grab the hammer and nail down a two inches nail to the thin layer of plywood to cover the square frame. The size of the plywood should be 32 inches, thus leaving 2 inches hanging plywood on each side.

Installing the Legs

For this step, start with placing the 6×25.5 boards separately. The distance is approximately 40 inches. Put the 48×32 tabletop on one side of the prepared board. Make sure there is no bump from all sides. Then, slowly put the 2×6 inches legs from the outer side. Pay attention to any gap between the frame and legs.

Take the screw and drill it from the inside, going through the frame and legs at the same time. Then, add the other two legs to the sides. Always check the gap. If there is any, try to adjust the position.

There are a lot of ways to get a perfect working tools. The carpenters could either purchase them on the store or trying to make one by themselves. For the perfect customized tools, it is far better to make one. The steps are not too difficult to follow, either. Happy working!
