How to Build Coffee Table with Storage

A coffee table is such a must for a living room. Without it, there will be something missing in the room. Meanwhile, the presence of this furniture can also serve many functions, one of which is giving you additional storage. How can a coffee table be an additional storage? Make your own by following this guide:

  • Prepare all the wood pieces based on this cut list.

  • Assemble the table top. To do this step you need to predrill pocket holes in every 2x6x38.5” board as shown in the picture below. Then, screws those six boards together and make sure that all of the are flush at their both ends. If needed, you can sand the edges off to make them smooth. Finish the table top by adding the 2x4x33” bread boards at the both ends and then screwing them using pocket hole screws.

  • Assemble the side panels’ faces by drilling 2 pocket holes in every end of the 1x3x9” boards. Then, make the assembly of the faces and screw the assembly with 1-1/4” pocket hole screws.

  • Assemble the side panels by aligning the plywood as shown in the picture. Then, screw the plywood with 1-1/4” wood screws.

  • Make the assembly of the table base. To do this step, first, drill 4 pocket holes on each side of the panel’s top side and also another pocket holes in the ¾ x 13-1/4 x 28 ½” center of the plywood so give the table more support. Then, screw every center support’s side using 1-1/4” pocket hole screws.

  • Assemble the base by setting the ¾ x 30 x 48” bottom in the right alignment with the side panel backs’ edge and then by screwing them with 1-1/4” wood screws.

  • Attach the feet of the coffee table as shown in the picture. Make sure that the table feet are evenly spaced from the table corners. Then, screw the feet in their place with 1-1/4” wood screws.

  • Assemble the table’s drawer boxes by drilling pocket holes in the bottom part of the drawer as shown in the picture. Then, screw the drawer together with 1-1/4” pocket hole screws and screw another 1-1/4” wood screws for the bottom part.

  • Install the drawer boxes and also the slides. You can find an online reference on ow to install these two.

  • Assemble the faces of the drawer by drilling 2 pocket holes in every boards’ end and then screwing the holes with 1-1/4” pocket hole screws.

  • Install the faces of the drawer by aligning it so there will be a 1/8” gap around it. Don’t forget to nail into the box of the drawer and attach the faces of the drawer with 1-1/4” finishing nails.

  • Complete your DIY coffee table project by adding trim. To do this step, first, cut a base cap molding to the desired size. Then, miter the corners for every panel’s side and also the drawer fronts as shown in the picture.
