A – one 3×3 lumber 27 ¼” long, two 3×3 lumber 25 ¼” (legs for chair)
B – two 1×4 lumber 20” long, two 1×6 lumber 20” long (braces)
C – eight 1×2 lumber 7” long (balusters)
D – 2 1×4 lumber 24” long (armrests)
E – two 1×3 lumber 24” long, three 1×3 lumber 18 ½” long (frame)
E – seven 1×3 lumber 24” long (seat)
F – two 1×3 lumber 24” long, six 1×3 lumber 22 ½” long (backrest)
Step 1. Assembling the side frames
Make the legs from 3×3 lumbers. For the top brace, use 1×4 lumbers, while for the bottom brace, use 1×6 lumbers. Make pocket holes into both ends of the braces and secure the joint with 1 ¼” screws through the legs.
Adjust the position of the corners to make sure that they are properly-angled. To give more strength onto the joints, glue them and wipe off the remaining glue using damp cloth. Create five degree ut to the legs top and the brace top.
Step 2. Installing the baluster
Install 1×2 lumbers for the balusters into the side frames. Make pocket holes into all balusters’ both ends and secure each of them with 1 ¼” screws into the braces. Attach some glue onto the joints and put each baluster with equal spacing.
Step 3. Installing the front support
Make the front brace using 1×6 lumbers. Cut all the pieces precisely and drill holes into both ends. Install the braces into the chair legs and secure them with 1 ¼” screws.
Step 4. Making the chair frame
Make the chair frame from 1×3 lumbers. Cut both ends of the chair frame in 85 degrees. Then, drill holes into both ends. Build the frame by securing all pieces using 1 ¼” screws. Add some glue if you want the joints much stronger.
Step 5. Installing the chair frame
Install the chair frame into Morris chair and secure the joints into the side frames with 1 ¼” screws. Don’t forget to previously drill pocket holes.
Step 6. Installing the seat slats
Use 1×3 seat slats to be positioned into the seat frame. Equally put the slats and secure them with 1 ¼” screws into the frames.
Step 7. Installing the armrests
Use 1×4 slats to make the armrests. Position the edges carefully and secure them with nails into the frame. Attach some glue to make the joints more secured.
Step 8. Making the backrest
Use 1×3 slats. Encircling the vertical support top with jigsaw! For the horizontal slats, use 1×3 slats and drill holes into all both ends. Attach the slats into the supports with 1 ¼” screws. Check to see if the space of the slats is even.
Step 9. Installing the backrest
Install the backrest into Morris chair. Secure the backrest into the back legs using 1 ¼” screws after drilling some holes throughout the vertical supports.
